How to Extend CCTV Camera Range Beyond 100 Meters
Beat the 100m Cat6 limit: long-range PoE CCTV mode, 5.8GHz wireless bridges and fiber uplinks — with product links.

Standard Cat6 PoE tops out near 100m. Past that, signal and power both degrade. You have three fixes.
1. Long-range PoE "CCTV mode"
Some switches extend a single port to 250m at lower speed. The 16-Port PoE Switch has a long-range mode for distant camera runs — great for perimeter and parking.
2. Wireless bridge
For line-of-sight gaps (gates, lots, remote buildings), a 5.8GHz Wireless Bridge carries video up to 3km with no cable at all.
3. Fiber uplink
For campus-scale backbones, use a 24-Port switch with SFP and fiber to a near-camera PoE switch, then short Cat6 to each camera.
Rule of thumb
Under 100m: Cat6 PoE. 100–250m: long-range PoE. Over 250m or no trenching: wireless bridge or fiber.
